An extensive collection of crazy carnival paraphernalia

The First Lower Rhine Carnival Museum has existed as a museum since 1973 and has been housed in the ‘Am Mattlerbusch’ community school (opposite the Niederrhein Therme) since 1998. The history of Duisburg Carnival up until the present day is documented in showcases and display cabinets. The exhibition includes around 4,000 carnival decorations from across Germany and abroad, ostentatious uniforms, flamboyant wigs, marottes, chains of office for princes and presidents and historical standards. The museum is funded by the main committee of Duisburg Carnival.
