Marxloh and Ruhrort
The brightly coloured district of Marxloh invites visitors to get to know it personally. One of the biggest mosques in Germany, the ‘most romantic street in Europe’ with over 53 bridal fashion shops, the Medienbunker, the Rosenpalast and the old mill known as Kiebitzmühle are a testament to how rapidly the district has changed.
The beginnings of Ruhrort date back to the 14th century when there was a customs house on an island in the Rhine. Shaped by its role as a port district by the world’s biggest inland port, guests take a trip through the past, present and future.
