Rhine Park

In the past, heavy industry was located here, but today it attracts people who are particularly active in sports. The Rhine Park in the Hochfeld district is one of Duisburg's most popular excursion destinations.

Extraordinary recreation area

Nearly five kilometres from Duisburg's main railway station is this extraordinary local recreation area. The 60-hectare area has been redesigned with meadow landscapes and formed into a special park with 3,000 newly planted trees.
Here climbers, basketball players, skaters, walkers, beach volleyball players and even kite flyers get their money's worth, because the wind from the adjacent Rhine provides the necessary lift.
At the 1.4 km long riverside promenade there is also a sandy beach and a small restaurant where you can relax, look out over the barges and enjoy the sun in fine weather.
The park offers numerous contrasting photo motifs, such as the graffiti on the wall remains of the former ore bunkers, the Bridge of Solidarity, the Duisburg-Hochfeld railway bridge and the many green spaces.
