The Lehmbruck-fellows 2007-2009: Jáchym Fleig, Luka Fineisen, Dragan Lovrinovic (from left to right)
For the 13th time since 1978, Lehmbruck scholarship holders will present their works to the City of Duisburg. These artists, who were selected from 140 other applicants, represent a meeting of very different positions in contemporary sculpture.
Luka Fineisen, as scholarship holder of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, makes perception lose control with unusual materials and interventions in spatial situations she encounters. In so doing, she exhausts the capacities of the material, the space and sculpture itself.
Jáchym Fleig, who was selected from applicants all over Germany, sees the exhibition building as an organism, in which he plants his works as a symbiotic structure. These works, which are influenced by modern technology, feed off the Museum's energy budget and in return impact on it.
Dragan Lovrinovic was awarded the guest scholarship for an artist born in Croatia. In his multimedia installations (his current work is entitled REMEMBER DEATH) he takes as his themes complex, partly political content and puts it in confusing and polarizing contexts.
