Wilhelm-Lehmbruck-Award

In remembrance of Duisburg artist Wilhelm Lehmbruck, the City of Duisburg found the Wilhelm-Lehmbruck-Award in order to support artists and to establish cultural relationships internationally. The Wilhelm-Lehmbruck-Award is being assigned by the City of Duisburg in a five years turn.

The artist is being chosen secretly by a jury consisting of local politicians and internationally versed art experts. For this, all his or her work is taken into consideration. In conjunction with the award an exhibition of the winning artist is organised at the Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum.

In 2006 the award goes to Reiner Ruthenbeck.

The official bestowal of the award to Reiner Ruthenbeck took place at January 28, 2006 in the Stiftung Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum - Center of International Sculpture in Duisburg. The laudatio was read by Professor Manfred Schneckenburger.
