From Picasso to Warhol. Sculptured Jewelry of the Avant-Garde

With accentuated modifications after its initial presentation at the Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Cologne, this exhibition offers visitors the enchanting possibility to acquaint themselves with the smallest form of art that the great sculptors of the 20th century have created, that is, jewelry.

As results of sculpting these objects differ vastly from common objects of jewelry design, for they are not seldom dedicated to the artists' cohabitants and, thus, combine abstract sculpting principles and personal meanings.

Within three decades Diana Küppers has assembled a compelling high-carat collection of international sculptors' jewelry, which, among others, showcases works by Georges Braque, Max Ernst, Pablo Picasso and Niki de Saint Phalle.

Besides, it is complemented by numerous items on loan and hitherto not yet exhibited works by artists such as Hans Uhlmann, Pit Kroke, Erwin Heerich and André Volten - all of which are presented in a dialogue with large scale works of the Lehmbruck museum's own collection.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue that is available as a museum's edition for 25,- €.
