Only a few kilometres south from the centre of Duisburg and immediately adjacent to the sports park lies the largest and most scenically beautiful local recreation area in the whole of the Duisburg area. Its diverse lakes, extensive system of footpaths, barbecue sites, open-air swimming bath, boat-hire facilities and model-boat harbour have made this a popular resort for sporting fans and day-trippers alike.
