Organisation structure

In order to be able to combat the problems in the different areas of responsibilities in a systematic and subject-related manner, an interdisciplinary team of architects, economists, youth and community workers and administration experts is active below the management level. This team provides advice and carries out activities on behalf of the neighbourhood offices set up locally.

Integrated urban renewal in Duisburg/neighbourhood management

In the neighbourhoods concerned, what are referred to as 'neighbourhood management bodies' were set up on the basis of the council resolution for the formation of EG DU. They initiate and/or co-ordinate:

- 'round tables' or neighbourhood conferences on the mobilisation of potential available in the neighbourhood,

- the initiatives by local business, the interests of the associations and institutions represented in the neighbourhood, as well as of the local politicians,

- the activities from the areas of activity planning/building, local economic development and social/cultural affairs.

Moreover, they group together the initiatives of the local players, action strategies worked out and prepare resolutions to be taken by the responsible bodies, in particular by the 'neighbourhood committees'.
