EG DU was formed on the basis of the resolution of the City Council of 09.11.1998, as a municipal subsidiary, with effect from 01.01.1999.

'GfB Gemeinnützige Gesellschaft für Beschäftigungsförderung mbH' (GfB Non-profit company for employment promotion)) were merged.

As a result of the permanent and flexible possibilities opened up for the assignment of the agency, the prerequisites for the continuous development and implementation of holistic concepts for integrated neighbourhood renewal in Duisburg were created.
