Social/cultural/intercultural and Play Bus
Aims

The social and (inter)cultural neighbourhood work is meant to contribute to strengthening the community, civic sense and the peaceful coexistence of people of different origins. This is why EG DU initiates, promotes and supports a great variety of projects on the subjects of education, children/youth, culture, play and sport, leisure and health.
As a result of these activities, tolerance, acceptance, frankness and curiosity as well as the ability of the residents to identify with 'their' neighbourhood are strengthened. The projects are, moreover, aimed at increasing the equality of opportunity of the people living here and at opening up new prospects for the future for them.
As a result of the cooperation of inhabitants, associations, institutions, the administration and politicians with common aims, new partnerships and networks arise and also a large range of possibilities for them to shape their own living areas. Arousing and/or strengthening civic sense and commitment are hence among EG DU's most important goals.
Offers
Picking-up ideas, identifying problems and potential.
In close cooperation with representatives of politics and administration, and with residents and neighbourhood players, problems are discussed and potential is promoted. Ideas for the improvement of quality of life are picked up and supported in close cooperation with EG DU's neighbourhood offices.
Working-out solutions.
Ideas and approaches to solutions are developed in cooperation with third parties. On this basis, implementable projects are conceived and promotion resources from the Land, the Federal Government and/or the EU are tapped.
Developing projects, supporting projects.
Projects are developed jointly with players from the neighbourhood and supported by means of coordination, moderation, concept elaboration and the arranging of contacts.
Co-ordinating and networking.
Neighbourhood actors, associations, organisations etc. are brought together. At the 'Round table' ideas are exchanged, work steps are defined, time standards are fixed and success and failure are discussed. New forms of cooperation are promoted and stabilised.
Exchange of experience.
Communication and exchange is not only necessary within the neighbourhood. At the regional, Land, Federal and EU levels, specialist exchange concerning the work in 'neighbourhoods with a particular need for renewal' as well as urban conversion areas is taking place. Serving as the means for this are, among other things, visits to conferences and seminars, participation in working groups and competitions and involvement in the evaluation of programs.
