The last remaining paddle tugboat

The museum ship "Oscar Huber", built in 1922, is a unique cultural monument. Up until the 60's, the paddle tugboat towed up to seven unpowered barges with their freights per trip. This is a technology that was used for more than 100 years.
Toward the end of the 50's, pushing tugboats with diesel engines were developed and these gradually replaced the steam tugboats. The "Oscar Huber" was the only paddle tugboat on the Rhine to escape the scrap yard.
Today, she lies at anchor along the Leinpfad on the Schifferbörse. Here, you can admire the impressive technology. The engine room is accessible, as well as the crew and living quarters.
The steam bucket dredger "Minden" lies directly next to the "Oscar Huber".
